Congratulations to Trinity Alumna Zoe Portis ('18), who is the recipient of the “Spirit of Sport” Award, which is presented annually by the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) to recognize those individuals who truly make a difference in the lives of all around them by their example and dedication despite facing major obstacles. It is very similar to the AHSAA’s Bryant-Jordan Achievement Award but selected on a national scope.
She was nominated for the prestigious award by The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), with the assistance of Trinity Presbyterian School. This award is one of the most important honors an individual involved with high school athletics can receive. A committee representing all 51 state associations from the eight sections in the NFHS selected Zoe for this honor as the Section III recipient. One nominee from each section was selected. One nominee from each section was selected. Section III includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
AHSAA Assistant Director, Ron Ingram stated: "The AHSAA sincerely appreciates Zoe’s exemplary character and integrity. Her amazing journey has been God-inspired every step of the way and her ability to tell her story has changed so many lives and will for years to come.
